HELLO! I’m Chris Gray — The Sound Guy!
I’m a narrative-focused sound designer and composer with a passion for creating unique and immersive audio experiences.
I love working with field recordings and anything I can get my hands on, pushing sounds to bizarre, engaging, and unexpected
levels through my effects, soundscapes, and experimental compositions.
My journey into sound design began in college during a Games Design course, which eventually led me to Manchester Metropolitan University.
There, I explored a wide range of projects and genres across three years of study, ultimately graduating with First Class Honours and a focus
on film and television sound.

I don’t believe in limiting creativity — my experience spans theatre, film sets, live performances,
game productions, animations, and audiobooks. To me, there are countless ways to tell a story through sound,
and I love exploring them all (picking up an award or two along the way!).
Every person I’ve worked with has brought unique and exciting stories to the table.
My goal is to help bring those stories to life by embracing new challenges,
working across different environments, and carrying insights from one field into another.
That cross-pollination is what makes each project unique, and I’m always eager to share that perspective with collaborators.
writing
I’ve been telling stories since I was a kid — my very first was a stapled-together comic about an alien visiting Earth.
These days, I draw inspiration from the world around me, the people I meet, and the stories they share, all of which help
shape my own. While I often write in fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, my approach to sound design and collaboration has expanded my
writing into new genres, pushing me to explore fresh challenges and perspectives.
Right now, my main project is an anthology series called Mindscapes, which explores mental health and the universal
questions we all wonder about. I wrap these ideas in whimsical, genre-spanning narratives and pair them with immersive,
hand-crafted audio to create experiences that pull readers (and listeners) into the journey.
